Airliner autopilots these days can technically take off, fly, and land, all completely on autopilot. Crack real life cam and forums. They still have two pilots sitting up there up front, to make sure things are controlled when they don't work like they should. Autopilot/self-driving are just there to help the drivers. Doesn't mean loss of jobs, it just means change of role in the job. As an ex-trucker, I completely support this technology - anything to reduce the chances of an accident is a positive step forward to my eyes. EDIT: ok, semantics time.
